Student answer (Band 6.5)

Technological advancement has revolutionized the daily life of people in various aspects. We cannot imagine the world without technical innovation. However, people are doing malicious things using science and technology. I am completely convinced that the sole aim of science and technology should be to improve people's lives.

In modern-day life, we are surrounded by various technical innovations that make our daily lives easier and faster. Various time-consuming and vague works are completed in just a matter of time. The artificial intelligence era has begun. From cooking to washing, communication to socialization, we use technology on a daily basis. Although it has various advantages, people use it to upset others or to damage their reputation. For instance, people make malicious comments on social media to destroy their confidence. Various suicidal news comes on news channels due to the leakage of their personal stuff on social media. Everything has its pros and cons, but we must use these things to make life easier and better.

Moreover, people are using every innovation in various sectors. Students' studies through online media Various drones are being used to spray pesticides and insecticides in agricultural sectors; robots are performing surgeries in the medical field. So that's the usage of science, and its main aim should be like this.

In conclusion, science and technology, which have made our lives much easier, should focus on the welfare of humankind, although they may be misused for personal benefits. For the sustainability of the future, its sole purpose should be positivie.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph provides relevant examples regarding the misuse of technology, the second body paragraph is fragmented, with sentence fragments like 'Students' studies through online media' lacking a verb. The argument that science should focus on welfare is clear, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the stance, though the overall depth of the analysis remains at a moderate level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'However,' 'For instance,' and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow within the third paragraph is disjointed due to the lack of complete sentences and abrupt transitions between examples. Referencing is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of some transitions prevents a higher score. The progression of ideas is present, but the lack of grammatical cohesion in the third paragraph slightly disrupts the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific terminology such as 'technological advancement,' 'artificial intelligence,' and 'sustainability.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'vague works' (which is unclear) and 'suicidal news' (which is an awkward collocation). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly in the third paragraph where sentence fragments appear (e.g., 'Students' studies through online media'). There are also minor issues with article usage and word order. Although these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and punctuation could be more precise.
