Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear agreement with the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you provide examples like infrastructure in Pakistan and AI, the connection back to the core argument—that the 'most important aim' of science should be improving lives—is not fully explored or nuanced. The essay tends to list examples rather than critically analyzing the extent to which science should prioritize human welfare over other potential aims, such as pure discovery or environmental preservation. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more depth in your reasoning and ensure your arguments are consistently linked to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'moreover' and 'also', but they are used in a repetitive and mechanical way. The transition between the paragraph about infrastructure and the paragraph about AI is abrupt. Furthermore, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'the rides is the straight example of the science,' where the connection to the previous point is weak. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'europen', 'enviorment', 'inovation', 'bulid', 'infrastruture', and 'tecnology'. Additionally, word choices are often simplistic or slightly inaccurate, such as 'net of roads' instead of 'road network' and 'stilling our jobs' instead of 'displacing workers'. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and expanding your range of collocations to express ideas more naturally and precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the rides is', 'science should have aim') and missing articles ('the all the soical media'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and missing commas. The frequency of these errors occasionally makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
