Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas, such as medical innovation and addressing global hunger, are relevant to the topic. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about global hunger is introduced but lacks specific examples or a deeper explanation of how science specifically addresses it beyond 'alternative food options'. While the main points are clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Fundamentally', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is a bit unclear, such as the phrase 'it entails a myriad of reasons' which does not clearly refer back to the previous sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the final paragraph is very short and lacks the depth expected for a strong conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'ultra modern epoch', 'catastrophic effect', and 'pivotal role'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'innovation in medical' (should be 'the medical field'), 'paramount significant role' (redundant), and 'tremendous of problems' (grammatically incorrect). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and the errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'science come forward' (should be 'came'), 'it contribute' (should be 'contributes'), and 'every human have' (should be 'has'). Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization issues, such as the unnecessary capitalization of 'There' in the first paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to demonstrate a lack of consistent control over complex structures, which is characteristic of a Band 6 performance.
