Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on medical advancements and automotive safety as evidence for science improving lives. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; the examples provided are descriptive rather than analytical. To reach a higher band, you should explore the 'extent' of your agreement more deeply—perhaps by briefly acknowledging counter-arguments or discussing the ethical implications of scientific priorities. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Subsequently' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For instance, in the second paragraph, the link between 'medical sector' and 'cost of operations' is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the general role of science to specific examples in medicine and technology.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary,' 'prominent,' 'precision,' and 'fatalities.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'betterment of public's life' (should be 'the public's lives') and 'lower amount risks' (should be 'lower risks'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that articles (a/the) are used correctly with abstract nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the science,' 'the betterment of automobiles') and subject-verb agreement ('Germany have cars'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'the advancement can lead to reduction in the cost.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for article usage and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
