science plays an important role in our lives. it changed the way people live, work, and communities. A large extent i agree that the main aim of science should be to improve people's lives because it helps people stay healthy and makes everyday life easier.

firstly, science improved healthcare. scientists invented medicines, vaccines, and modern medical machines that help doctors treat disease. as result, people can live longer and healthier lives. it also reduced the death rate and improved the quality of medical care in many countries. for example, during the covid 19 pandemic, scientists developed vaccines that protected millions of people and reduced the number of deaths. this shows how science can save lives and improve public health.

secondly, science has made daily life more comfortable. modern technology such as smartphone, computers and the internet help people communicate, study and work easily. science has also improved transport and clear energy. scientific developments also improved transportation, making travel faster and safer. for example, solar panels produce electricity without causing pollution, which helps protect the environment. these developments improve people's quality of life and protect the environment.

some people believe that science should only focus on gaining knowledge. however, I believe that scientific discoveries are more valuable when they solve real life problems and improve people's quality of life.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that the most important aim of science is to improve people's lives. it helps people stay healthy, makes daily tasks easier, and solve many global problems. therefore, science should always be used for the benefit of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, particularly the examples regarding healthcare and technology. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced analysis rather than just listing examples. For instance, when discussing science as a tool for knowledge versus a tool for improvement, you could explore the ethical implications or the long-term necessity of basic research. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use basic cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'in conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences can feel a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'these developments') is used more precisely to connect ideas across sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the overall readability of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'scientific discoveries', 'public health', and 'global problems'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'clear energy' instead of 'clean energy'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and less common lexical items. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater precision and style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in basic grammar, particularly with capitalization (e.g., 'science' at the start of sentences, 'i' instead of 'I') and article usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over punctuation and sentence construction. Try to vary your sentence length and ensure that subject-verb agreement and articles are used correctly in more complex structures.
