Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the essay. The essay falls short of the 250-word minimum, which restricts the depth of the arguments provided. While the points regarding healthcare and technology are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat list-like fashion without sufficient elaboration or nuanced analysis. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure each paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of how science directly impacts human life, ensuring you meet the minimum word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'secondly', 'also'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. For instance, the transition from discussing smartphones to AI in the second body paragraph is disjointed. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'trasports', 'dieases', 'inteliganse', 'avillables', 'cantributes', and 'setelites', which occasionally impede readability. The word choice is often simplistic, relying on basic terms like 'easy' or 'fast' rather than more academic alternatives. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and attempt to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to scientific and societal advancement to demonstrate a broader range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it have been greatly benifited', 'technology has make'), incorrect verb forms ('have used' instead of 'are used'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization at the start of sentences and the use of commas. These errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to grasp. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and consistent punctuation before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
