Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the essay attempts to address the prompt regarding the aim of science, the development of ideas is extremely limited and repetitive. The arguments are not clearly structured, and the response lacks a coherent position or a logical progression of thought. The ideas provided, such as the link between science and exercise or clean water, are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth or academic tone required for an IELTS Task 2 essay. The response is also incomplete, ending abruptly with 'I will tell'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear organizational structure. There is no paragraphing, and the ideas are presented in a disjointed manner. Cohesive devices are almost entirely absent, and where they are used, they are often misused or repetitive (e.g., 'And if we know', 'So i will tells'). The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not flow logically from one to the next. The lack of clear transitions and the repetitive nature of the writing make the text difficult to read and understand as a cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying heavily on a limited set of words such as 'science', 'life', 'health', and 'improve'. There is no evidence of a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task. Many word choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as 'taking the knowloge' or 'what thing better of over life'. The spelling is also inconsistent throughout the text. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to science and societal progress.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Science improve your life'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and missing commas. The errors are pervasive and often impede the reader's ability to grasp the intended meaning. The student needs to work on basic sentence construction, including the correct use of articles, prepositions, and verb forms, before attempting more complex structures.
