Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the score. While the ideas regarding health technology and destructive weapons are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed. The argument lacks depth, particularly in the conclusion, which is incomplete and trails off mid-sentence. To improve, you should ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough explanation and that you fully complete your final summary to ensure the task is addressed in its entirety.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Take an example' is used twice in a similar way. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending of the essay significantly disrupts the overall flow and coherence. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your ideas are connected more smoothly throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'technogy', 'gratly', 'desiese', 'comunicate', and 'copuntries', which occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'good' or 'bad' concepts without exploring more sophisticated academic collocations. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic of scientific advancement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'peoples lives very comfortably', 'doctors suggests'), article usage, and tense consistency (e.g., 'they have to traveled'). These errors are frequent and sometimes impede the clarity of your message. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical mistakes prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to correct subject-verb agreement and verb tense errors.
