Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving lives, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the position is clear, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on population growth and government funding is introduced but not fully explored or supported with specific, logical evidence. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, and the conclusion is brief. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'One of the key factors is that...' and 'Moreover...' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'That burden the government and authorities for education and healt funds.' The transition between the benefits of science and the economic drawbacks is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'good', 'easy', and 'helpfull' (spelled incorrectly). There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'science are huge impact' instead of 'science has a huge impact' and 'save the person live' instead of 'save human lives'. Some attempts at more academic vocabulary, such as 'individual life expectancy', are present, but the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. Focusing on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science are making', 'science is heal') and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences, and those that are attempted often contain errors, such as 'disease like cancer and diabetes are now has cures'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors.
