Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving lives, but the development is limited. While you provide examples like YouTube and air travel, the ideas are presented in a repetitive and somewhat disjointed manner. The position is clear, but the argument lacks depth and academic structure. The essay reads more like a series of loosely connected observations rather than a cohesive argument. To improve, ensure you clearly state your position in an introduction, provide distinct body paragraphs with clear topic sentences, and conclude by summarising your main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure, such as an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The flow of ideas is difficult to follow because there is a lack of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however'). The text is written as one long block, which makes it hard for the reader to identify the progression of your argument. Referencing is often unclear, such as in the sentence 'in that science makes more easier lives', where the connection to the previous point is weak. Using paragraphing and transition words would significantly improve the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'work', 'improve', and 'things' to describe complex concepts. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'pasanate' (passionate) and 'adopt the thighs' (likely meaning 'adopt the things' or 'acquire skills'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express abstract ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to science and technology, and try to avoid repeating the same verbs throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that often impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science will improve people lives'), missing articles, and run-on sentences. The sentence structure is largely simple or incorrectly complex, leading to confusion. For example, 'I fI talk about the physically if you daily exercise your body will be fit you not to take the help of the doctors' is a fragmented, run-on sentence that lacks proper punctuation and grammatical structure. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a great starting point.
