Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving human lives, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the score. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of space exploration and AI is relevant but lacks depth. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which indicates a failure to fully develop the final part of the response. To improve, you should expand on your examples with more specific details and ensure the essay is fully completed to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'For example' and 'In conclusion,' but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The logical progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'In point of technology should be new innovation,' which makes the argument difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'important role,' 'good,' and 'things.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'having the equipment like detecting the disease' and 'make people easy to work.' Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'having new creativity.' To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and precise collocations related to the topic of science and societal impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'The science play an important role on each sector,' 'There can be improve in the AQI,' and 'if science do all the things.' Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct verb forms in conditional sentences.
