Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing that science primarily improves lives despite environmental drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the influencer 'ishow speed' is not particularly academic or relevant to the broader societal impact of science, which limits the depth of the argument. While the essay covers the main points, the analysis of the 'disadvantage' side is brief and lacks sufficient depth. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more global or societal examples rather than individual anecdotes, and ensure that the link between your examples and the prompt is more robustly explained.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Inconclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'According to the personal opinion', which is not standard academic phrasing. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context would significantly enhance the logical progression of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'environmental factors', 'global warming', and 'scientific discoveries'. However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'scientific experiment affects on' and 'science can hampers'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler terms. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Spelling errors, such as 'Inconclusion' and 'scienctific', also detract from the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science can hampers'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'many people started used it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tenses would be a beneficial next step.
