Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While a position is stated, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the mention of healthcare and weather prediction is relevant but lacks specific, well-explained examples to support the extent of the agreement. The conclusion is brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphs are fragmented, and the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Also', 'By also'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly, such as starting sentences with 'Ex-' or 'The end is like'. The lack of logical transitions between sentences makes it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which hinders the clarity of your arguments. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'brackets in death ratio' and 'twit on internet'. The repetition of basic words like 'science' and 'helping' limits the range of expression. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for a formal essay context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some of Scientists have also twit'), incorrect sentence structures, and punctuation errors. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which affects readability. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect prepositions will help improve your score in this area.
