Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that, science's main goal should be improve people living standard. I fully agree with this opinion. I will discuss both perspectives and give my opinion in further paragraphs.
Firstly, people think science main goal should be improve people's live because if people have modern technology so they can easily survive today. People do all work easy through new technologies and they does not need to any hard work in their daily life, sometimes technology save humans extra time ,so they can do another work at same time. For example, Robots can do all work same like human like AI robots can wash car, cook meals, help with other home's work so this time save for humans and they can do extra work, which is important for them.
Secondly, technology do less error than humans because they work base on machines and programs, so their are no chances of error. All task can easily done without human focus on it. Human have benefit for they can work easily without focus on it. For example, self drive car has less accident than humans , while human drive car so that time their focus can be move to other side, but in self drive car their are no focus issue because it work on software and less chance of accident.
In my opinion, if science focus on human's live so it will be happen many benefits for humans like, it do less error than humans and also it help in many task in human life. It can do easily without human need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt, but the development is limited. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. You mention that science should improve living standards, but the supporting points—robots doing chores and self-driving cars—are somewhat narrow and lack a broader discussion of the 'extent' of your agreement. Furthermore, the introduction states you will discuss 'both perspectives,' but the body paragraphs only focus on supporting your own view, which is a structural inconsistency. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed idea that directly supports your thesis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'it do less error' or 'it will be happen,' which disrupts the flow of ideas. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'work,' 'do,' and 'easy.' There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'people living standard' instead of 'people's living standards' and 'science focus on human's live' instead of 'science focuses on human life.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a lack of precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same basic verbs throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'technology do less error,' 'they does not need'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex structures, such as 'if science focus on human's live so it will be happen many benefits.' While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses.
