Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. The ideas regarding technology and medical science are relevant; however, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how science improves communication is repetitive and lacks depth. While the main points are clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion restates the position but does not add significant insight. Overall, the response is relevant but remains at a basic level of development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'moreover', 'furthermore', and 'for instance' are used, but they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'Although, medical science plays an significant role... However...'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal structure of sentences is often disjointed, which occasionally hinders the flow of information. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'virous' (virus), 'huddles' (hurdles), 'satielights' (satellites), and 'in sufficient' (insufficient). Additionally, there are word choice issues, such as 'past away' instead of 'pass away' and 'vanish whole humanity'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary related to science and technology, the frequent errors and limited range of sophisticated items constrain the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The science was introduce it', 'goal of the science have to be'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'people life's'). Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with comma usage and sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text prevents it from reaching a higher band, as these errors are noticeable and persistent.
