Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health, education, and environmental sustainability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the link between digital devices and student concentration is mentioned but not fully explored. Similarly, the argument regarding environmental benefits is a bit general. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific, detailed explanations or nuanced examples that demonstrate a deeper analysis of the topic. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. There is a progression of ideas from health to broader societal benefits. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate. For example, 'To exemplify' and 'To elucidate' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs can feel repetitive or abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences lack smooth connectivity, making the flow feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow naturally into one another would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sustainable', 'innovations', and 'contemporary epoch'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'science advance made' (should be 'scientific advancements have led to') and 'make the life easy' (should be 'make life easier'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic phrasing to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('science play', 'science make'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('should to improve', 'which prevents' instead of 'which prevent'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that affect the overall polish of the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
