Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 200 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is missing and the final paragraph is incomplete. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments remain somewhat superficial due to the lack of depth and the abrupt ending. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop your points with specific examples and provide a clear conclusion that summarises your main arguments. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all' and 'Another important benefit' to transition between points. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence. The use of referencing is sometimes repetitive, with many sentences starting with 'People can' or 'Science'. To achieve a higher band, try to vary your sentence starters and use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly, ensuring that each paragraph leads logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You use general terms like 'important', 'good', and 'better' repeatedly. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'vaccines', 'healthcare', and 'modern technology', the range is limited. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'solve sums' (which is informal) and 'communicate to their friends' (should be 'with'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('the internet', 'the world') and subject-verb agreement issues ('science... have also improved'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant error. While your meaning is usually clear, the lack of variety in sentence structure and the persistent minor errors prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for small errors like articles and plurals, and try to incorporate more complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses.
