Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing supporting arguments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the second paragraph and the third paragraph both focus heavily on health and medicine, which limits the scope of the argument. A more balanced approach would have been to explore other scientific fields, such as environmental protection or technology, to provide a more comprehensive view. While the position is consistent, the ideas could be extended further to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic beyond just medical science.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'For instance', and 'Therefore' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the final sentence of the second paragraph feels disconnected from the preceding point about plastic waste. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the flow could be improved with more varied cohesive links.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'Science', 'people', and 'health'. While there are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'disease prevention', 'vaccines', and 'scientific research', the range is somewhat limited. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'Science often publish' (should be 'publishes') and the repetitive use of 'importance of'. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more sophisticated collocations and avoid repeating the same nouns and verbs throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'importance of regular excercise improves health' (which lacks a proper subject-verb structure) and 'Science often publish' (subject-verb agreement error). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the sentence fragment in the conclusion: 'By providing reliable information about health. Science can educate...'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a greater variety of error-free complex structures to achieve a higher score.
