Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'origin and development' is vague, and the second body paragraph relies on general statements about viruses without providing a specific, well-developed example. While the main points are relevant, they are not fully extended, which limits the score. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, detailed examples and ensure that each paragraph explores a distinct aspect of the topic rather than restating the general importance of science.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Similarly', and 'To conclude' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the sentence 'To elaborate it further the history behind the living organisms in this planet...' lacks a smooth connection to the previous point. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of punctuation around cohesive devices needs improvement to ensure the text reads more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'science subject' and 'improve people's lives' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'rhythm of human life' and 'science subject aim to boost the life'. While the meaning is clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary prevents a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to scientific advancement and societal impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'I completely agree to this point' should be 'agree with this point', and 'science subject' is often used without the necessary article 'the'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'science subject aim to boost'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in articles and prepositions would significantly improve your score.
