Student answer (Band 5.5)

The most vital and significant purpose of research should be to enhance and improve peoples standard of living. Nowadays, science play a crucial role to enhance the style of living by their researches and discoveries. In this essay, firstly, the main reasons are express why this is very important, secondly, its relevant examples and finally, the agreement or disagreement from my prespective.

To the very begining, science makes the quality of life very convienent and facilitate by their innventions. For example, the medical research shows that now the treatment of cancer and antibiotics for diseases is available, which enhance the people living way and prevent them from serious and dangoures diseases. Moreover, technology makes the life modern and convienent it improve the living way as well as give the new direction of thinking. The another example is that smartphones, smartwatches, electric home appliances makes the life easy and nowadasy all these gadgets become prevelant. Everyone use these to reduce their time and these inventions give the new way of thinking like people do remote jobs without going out from home, its enhance the knowledge and make cruiosity how a small thing gives so many benefits. Therefore, science plays a improtant role in improving life style in each field of life.

On the other hand, there are also many disadvantages of these creations such as now uneducated people do not get online jobs because their lack of education and knowledge. For instance, research replace the jobs, in this way many people find online jobs or use robots instead of humans in thier companies or organizations. Furthermore, there are plenty of nuclear discovers which are dangoures and risky in the future for peoples. The another example is that these weapons bring disasters and destruction in the coming time which will definitaley destroy each and everything.

From my prespective, I would like to give equal agreement from both sides because it covers couple of sides how science discoveries are improve of lives and how negative impacts risky for lives.

To conclude this essay, research gives new prespective of people lives by introducing new items as well as its disadvantages enhance the danger for the people. Overall, the positive and negative impacts of science plays the both roles in people lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving lives. However, the position is not consistently clear. While you acknowledge both sides, the conclusion and the body paragraphs lack a strong, unified argument regarding the extent of your agreement. The ideas are relevant, such as medical advancements and technological convenience, but the discussion on disadvantages (nuclear weapons, job displacement) is somewhat disconnected from the core prompt about the 'aim' of science. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout, with each paragraph directly supporting that stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel forced or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'The another example is that' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a more natural and sophisticated structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prevalent', 'discoveries', and 'disasters'. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'convienent', 'dangoures', 'prespective', 'improtant', 'nowadasy') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'science play a crucial role' (should be 'plays') and 'science discoveries are improve of lives'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's flow. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and using collocations more naturally in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('science play', 'inventions makes'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('science discoveries are improve of lives'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
