Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you mention that science can improve lives and also be dangerous, the arguments are not fully extended or supported with clear, logical reasoning. The position is somewhat unclear because the essay shifts between agreeing and disagreeing without a cohesive central argument. To improve, you should focus on developing each main point with a clear topic sentence, followed by a specific example and an explanation of how that example supports your overall stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no proper paragraphing, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'on another hand' and 'like', but they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not effectively link your ideas. The flow between sentences is disjointed, and the lack of a clear introduction and conclusion hinders the overall coherence. Using transition words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' would help to connect your thoughts more logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic words like 'good', 'bad', and 'things'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'the exam is the cemical' (likely meaning 'chemicals') and 'economice strong' (economic strength). You also struggle with spelling, which occasionally makes it difficult to understand your intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms related to the topic of science and technology, and focus on using them in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is frequently inaccurate, with many errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. For example, 'the science is use' should be 'science is used', and 'the human will live in peace life' is grammatically incorrect. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for a higher score.
