Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention medical research and environmental protection, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the reference to COVID-19 is a good start but is not fully elaborated to show how it directly supports the 'aim of science' argument. The conclusion is also quite brief and repetitive. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear link between the scientific aim and the resulting improvement in human life, rather than just listing general benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'The first and foremost' and 'To add more' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the conclusion, which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'science', 'life', and 'important'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'researched many medicine' (should be 'developed many medicines') and 'health related' (should be 'health-related issues'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. You should focus on learning synonyms and more precise academic collocations to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it is create many disease'), missing articles ('in covid 19'), and incorrect word forms ('it reduce pollution'). While the meaning is usually understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing prepositions or articles.
