Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you provide examples like bread makers and medical advancements, the arguments remain somewhat superficial and lack depth. The essay would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning regarding the balance between scientific progress and potential ethical or environmental risks. The conclusion is brief and repeats the main point rather than synthesizing the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph explores the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments more thoroughly to provide a more comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Moreover' and 'Additionally'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the jump from household machines to medical advancements in the fourth paragraph lacks a clear connecting thought. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'make', and 'good'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'upgrade people lives' (improve people's lives) and 'human friendly' (user-friendly). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of science and technology. Expanding your vocabulary to include more nuanced synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Science play major role'), missing articles ('in humans life'), and awkward sentence structures ('every kind of work do the machines'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for these recurring errors will significantly enhance the clarity and professionalism of your writing.
