Student answer (Band 5.5)

Everyday happening are based on science. The most pivotal purpose of science must be to enhance the individuals lives. I greatly agree with the statement as advancement in the field of science has various beneficial impacts on human's.

One one hand, the developement in the field of science has made the life much more easier. In addition, it has major outcomes in the field of healthcare as innovation in science has resulted in advanced methods to cure diseases. For instance, as the population has increased the number of diseases has also rised like cancer but due to technological developments now we can locate the tumors by using machines, also people can get cured from ailments with less pain and in minimum time. Hence, science improve the lives of individuals by providing innovative treatment methods.

On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks associated with these inventions. The radiations produced during the laser therapy has deterimental impacts on the lives of people. Futhermore, these highly penetrating radiations effect the reproductive systems in both males and females that increases the risks of infertility.

In my opinion, the main purpose of science is the betterment of life but government and other operating companies should pay more attention to make technology safe for the humans as well as for the other organisms.

In conclusion, science has major role in improving the lives of peoples mainly in the traetment of various deadly diseases but it also has drawbacks that can be elevated by preventive measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing arguments for both sides. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention healthcare as a benefit, the explanation is brief. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding the drawbacks of laser therapy is specific but lacks a broader perspective on the ethical or societal implications of scientific advancement. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more thoroughly explored and that the link between your arguments and the main thesis is consistently reinforced throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits of science and the specific drawbacks of laser therapy feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring better paragraph unity would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'innovative treatment methods' and 'deterimental impacts'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'developement', 'traetment', and 'peoples' (when referring to individuals). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'Everyday happening' instead of 'Everyday occurrences'. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic vocabulary and expanding your range of collocations to express ideas with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'human's' (should be 'humans'), 'life much more easier' (should be 'life much easier'), and 'rised' (should be 'risen'). Subject-verb agreement and pluralization are areas that require more attention. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your performance.
