Student answer (Band 6.0)

Its often argued by some people that the crucial purpose of the science is to improve the live's of individuals. Although, some people might disagree with this statement but i completely agree with this notion not only because of technological inventions and medical discoveries also because of its use of global environment.

Firstly, scientific discoveries brought revolution in the lives of individuals. there are numerous inventions in technology that changed the human thoughts. for examlpe the recent invention of Artificial intelligence alter the old narrative of human thinking. because mostly working sectors using AI. this initiative reduce the work load of workers.

Secondly, another compelling point to agree with this statement is the use of science in medical theories. I think it's one of the most vital factor that improve the people's lives. because before the inventions of medical instruments and gadgets, it's very difficult to trace the disease. but now medical science has improved. For Instance, German biotechnological scientistis invent artificial womb that can raise human child without its mother. another most suitable example of this is invention of pencilin by flemming. it saved lots of people's from daying.

finally, another additional point is environmental science. As you know our plant is suffering from environmental issues. these issues changed the global weather pattern and temperature. that's why we seen lots of floods every year that brought destruction. so that, scientists discover main causes and changed the sources of it. for example mostly cars manufacturers used euro 2 engine in their vihicles to reduce carbon emission.

In conclusion, I can say that i agree with this statement because every thing has its pros and cons. but mostly scienctific discoveries made the human live's easier than past. therefore, i agree with this point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of AI, medical advancements, and environmental science. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how AI reduces workload is brief, and the example of the artificial womb is not clearly linked to the broader argument of improving lives. The essay would benefit from more detailed explanations and a more nuanced exploration of the 'extent' of the agreement. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a logical progression of ideas from technology to medicine to the environment. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'finally'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the paragraph about environmental science where the connection between 'sources of it' and the preceding sentence is vague. The paragraphing is functional, but the flow between ideas could be smoother and more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'live's' (lives), 'examlpe' (example), 'pencilin' (penicillin), 'daying' (dying), and 'vihicles' (vehicles). While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'biotechnological' and 'carbon emission', the overall range is limited. The repetition of basic verbs and nouns restricts the ability to convey more complex ideas with precision. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'scientific discoveries brought'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase letters). The use of fragments, such as 'because mostly working sectors using AI', demonstrates a lack of control over complex sentence construction. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
