Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern world, science and technology have significantly advanced. It is often argued that science helps to make people's life better. I fully agree with this statement, as it's significant impression can be seen in healthcare and communication. In the subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss my view on this.
To begin with, one of the major advantages of scientific advancements is its contribution to the healthcare sector. In big cities, now hospitals have advanced technology equipment's available such as CT scan, X-Ray, MRI and Ultra sound machines for diagnosis. These machines help to early detect diseases and helpful in treatment. As a result, people lives longer. For example, In the past, people struggles to get the better treatment, as specially in rural areas, there were no such healthcare facilities available and they have to commute to the cities for regular medical tests. Sometime due to bad weather and transport facilities they not able to go for check-up. Therefore, the treatment get delayed. Now every hospital have basic amenities for the treatment. Moreover, several vaccinations and medicines invented by scientists and doctors help to improve and prevent millions of lives during a pandemic. Hence, it is evident that science plays a pivotal role in improving human lives.
In addition to this, science has overcome the challenges faced by people decades ago. They were not able to communicate with the loved ones who lived far away from them. With the help of researches, scientists invented mobile phone's. Although, with the time more advancements has been introduced such as video calling, social media platforms which helps them to know about their loved one's life through social media stories, posts and chat over video calls. To exemplify this, a student or working professional who lives in foreign countries stay close to their parents and friends while commuting through video conferencing makes common their life comfortable and happy.
In conclusion, I believe that technological advancements in the field of science help to improve our lives in several ways, particularly by providing better healthcare facilities and advanced technologies such as mobile phones and social media platforms.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding healthcare and communication are relevant and well-supported with examples. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the analysis could be deepened by considering potential counter-arguments or broader implications of science beyond just these two sectors. The essay covers all parts of the task well, but the depth of argument remains at a general level rather than exploring the 'extent' of the agreement in a more nuanced way. Overall, it is a solid response that fulfills the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition to this', and 'Hence' are used to guide the reader. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and some transitions feel slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly disjointed due to minor grammatical issues. The progression of ideas is logical, and the overall structure supports the argument effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'pivotal role' and 'amenities', which are used correctly. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'technology equipment's' (should be 'technological equipment') and 'people lives longer' (should be 'people live longer'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision in word choice and a better grasp of collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with pluralization ('equipment's', 'mobile phone's', 'loved one's'), subject-verb agreement ('people struggles', 'every hospital have'), and article usage. Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain minor errors that prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. The punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of small errors suggests that the student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
