Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving lives while introducing broader goals like sustainability and ethics. However, the development of these ideas is inconsistent. While you mention medical advancements and environmental concerns, the arguments are often superficial and lack specific, well-explained examples. The position is clear, but the supporting points in the middle paragraphs are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that directly supports your thesis, rather than listing several points briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Innnnntead' or the repetitive use of 'Science' to start sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While there is a logical progression from the benefits of science to the need for ethical oversight, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the argument feel somewhat fragmented. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
There is a limited range of vocabulary, and many words are misspelled or used incorrectly, such as 'enchacing', 'soicety', 'Meical', and 'sustainbaility'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'environmental sustainability' and 'genetic engineering', the frequent spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'science should be look for than indiviual well being') hinder the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on accurate spelling and using collocations more naturally. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic terms would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Science also make advance level'), article usage, and sentence structure ('I'am totally agree with that science will be more improve,s people's lives'). Complex structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. The punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralisation before moving on to more complex grammatical structures.
