Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that science should prioritize improving lives. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly the constant reiteration that science makes life 'easier.' While the mention of the 'dark side' (weapons) provides a counter-perspective, the argument lacks depth and specific, well-elaborated examples. The essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of how science balances ethical concerns with progress. The conclusion is missing, which is a significant omission for a task of this nature, as it leaves the argument feeling incomplete.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into a single, long block of text rather than distinct paragraphs. This lack of paragraphing makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. While there is a logical flow from the definition of science to its applications in health and then to ethical considerations, the absence of clear transitions between these points makes the structure feel mechanical. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic (e.g., 'As we know,' 'Nowadays,' 'So basically'). To improve, you should group related ideas into separate paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely heavily on repetitive phrases such as 'make people’s life more easier' and 'help mankind.' There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'disaterous weapons' (likely meant 'destructive') and 'scientific environment.' While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items to demonstrate a higher level of language proficiency.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect readability. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in health sector'), incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'equipments' is uncountable), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'science is a subject which provides us knowledge about'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper commas or conjunctions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proper article usage would be beneficial.
