Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people claim that improving human lives is the most important purpose of science. I completely agree with this argument.
There are several reasons why the most important aim of science and technology should be improving people's lives. First of all, technologies are made by human for human well-being. So, people have invented lot of scientific tools and devices for making their tasks easier and developimg their life. Thus, science should follow their inventors direction and work for the welfare of human. If scientifical inventions work for the welfare of people, then researchers will become more interested for doing more researches and investors will invest more funding in order to new invention. In this way, we can be able to improve our medical sectors by using advanced technology. For instance, we can invent some vaccines of rare diseases and may invent some advanced treatments which will be very beneficial for patients.
In addition, electricity was invented for the betterment of people. So, people had got a lot of interest on this invention and then by doing several experiments people made various devices such as electric fans, electric cookers which have been conducted by electricity. Nowadays, artificial inteligence is very famous in the whole world because artificial inteligence tools are being used for the welfare of human-being. They have made people life more easier and comportable. Therefore, more investors are interested to invest in the field of AI(artificial inteligence). Apart from that solar systems, many expensive vehicles are made to improve and develop human life.
In conclusion, science is part and parcel of people life and people have invented science and technology for improving their live's. So, there have no doubts that the most essential aim of science is to improve humans life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on the welfare of humanity, medical advancements, and technological progress. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument that science should follow the 'inventors direction' is vague, and the link between funding and welfare is not fully explored. While the response covers the requirements, the supporting examples, such as the mention of electricity and AI, are somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced analysis of why this aim is the 'most important' compared to other potential aims, such as pure knowledge acquisition.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'science should follow their inventors direction', where the pronoun 'their' lacks a clear antecedent. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs feel disjointed, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better transition phrases between the introduction, body, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'medical sectors', 'vaccines', and 'artificial intelligence'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'developimg', 'scientifical', 'inteligence', and 'comportable'. Furthermore, some word choices are imprecise or non-standard, such as 'part and parcel of people life' and 'people had got a lot of interest'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes, as these errors occasionally distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'people have invented lot of scientific tools' (missing article) and 'there have no doubts' (incorrect verb usage). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'improving their live's' and 'researchers will become more interested for doing more researches'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures and focusing on basic article and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
