Student answer (Band 6.0)
Science has made enormous changes in past but its main aim should be to improves people’s life. I totally agree with this statement that scientist should make innovations to benefit human life.
On the one hand, most of the people believe that science should make inventions to benefit human beings and for their betterment. Furthermore, scientist’s research improves the life of the people rather than they should not do research to add little values and additions in their publications. Science should make innovations to solve the problem of food shortages, diseases and climate change etc. For instance, COVID-19 was the major issue of that time many people loss their lives due to this, but due to science scientists invent vaccine to save the lives of human being. Due to science the patients of cancers survive their live and the spam of their living increases.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as mentioning medical advancements and technological tools like GPS and AI. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding economic improvement is mentioned but not sufficiently explained. The conclusion is also slightly repetitive and lacks a summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more depth in your supporting examples and ensure the conclusion synthesizes your arguments rather than just restating your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Moreover.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Furthermore, scientist’s research improves the life of the people rather than they should not do research.' Additionally, some sentences lack logical flow, making the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'innovations,' 'inventions,' and 'climate change.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'spam of their living' (likely meaning 'lifespan') and 'made our lives very easier' (should be 'much easier'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on learning more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('scientist should make,' 'science has develop'), article usage, and pluralization ('many people loss their lives'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and noun-verb agreement, and attempt to use more complex structures with greater precision.
