Student answer (Band 5.0)

Firstly it is important to know that science is helpful for society welfare in some stages. But nowadays science is used as a tool to earn wealth. If science is aimed for improving life then life for everyone will be very easy and the big troubles like unemployment, poverty and illegals activities like robbery and kidnapping will be end. For instance if science make machines and effective tools cheaper and easy to use then there will be more jobs for individuals who facing unemployment. Another one is that if there are more opportunities then the theif no need to rob a bank or a kidnaper to kidnap anyone. Because all these problems is occurring because of poverty. However if science make their research for all people not only for rich people then no one will be poor anymore. The only disadvantage of this is that the people will become equal as the level of president is the highest rank in a country but if science make their research for everyone then there will be no king or boss. Because everyone have their own machines theses no need for any people that will be become a biggest problem because if this happens no one want to become a doctor, pilot, engineer,or soldier as in result other will attack them and capture their country easily while another big problem is everyone will be slothful and no one will hardwork to achieve dreams as in result the relationship between humans will get interrupt.

Conclusion I not experienced any scienctific company whose aim is to help people for improving their life. However they always aim to achieve more money and fame which is becoming more common nowadays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether science should aim to improve lives, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide examples like unemployment and poverty, the argument becomes somewhat illogical when discussing the 'disadvantage' of equality, where you suggest that if everyone is equal, society will collapse because no one will work. This line of reasoning is difficult to follow and lacks a clear, logical connection to the prompt. Furthermore, the conclusion is personal rather than a summary of the main points. To improve, ensure your arguments are grounded in logical, real-world consequences rather than speculative or contradictory scenarios.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. It is essentially one long paragraph, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'However', and 'For instance', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. For example, 'Another one is that' is not a standard way to introduce a new point. Paragraphing is essential in IELTS writing to separate your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. You should aim to group related ideas into distinct paragraphs to improve the overall flow and logical progression of your essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'big', 'easy', and 'make', which limits your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'society welfare', 'illegals activities', and 'the relationship between humans will get interrupt'. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations. For instance, instead of 'big troubles', you could use 'significant societal challenges' or 'pressing global issues'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'all these problems is occurring', 'everyone have their own machines'), article usage (e.g., 'the theif'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack necessary punctuation, making them difficult to parse. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences often result in errors. Focusing on basic accuracy—specifically subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses—will significantly improve your score.
