Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, science and the technology has become a widely debated issue. It is often argued that enhancing the quality of human lives is the most significant goal of science. I completely agree with this viewpoint and this essay explains, innovations in health care sector to overcome health issues and creating eco-friendly surroundings for both people and animals as reasons behind my agreement, with relevant examples.

The primary justification for my position is that as a result of science advancement, new machines can be innovated especially, which are crucial in health care sector. Owing to this, dangerous diseases can be identified and treated in advance. Therefore, it will be a great assist by people's side to maintain a balance and healthy lives. For example, a tested and well-resulted CT scan machines are generated to determine early-stage breast cancers, as a result of science experiments. Consequently, this is more likely to lead to better outcomes in individuals' lives.

Another significant factor is that producing degradable packings causes to protect our nature. Additionally, sustainable energy sources, zero-emission vehicles and well-developed fertilizers will be introduced to the society by scientists. In other words, these all findings affect on the eco-system positively. For instance, a famous magazine has reported recently that the air pollution has decreased significantly in last year, after introducing electric cars.

In conclusion, the most crucial aim of science should be to enhance citizens' lifestyles because humans are the most important and responsible part of the nature. Therefore, I strongly agree with this perspective and we should always make continuous science experiments to build up a better world for both human and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The introduction outlines the main arguments, and the body paragraphs provide relevant examples, such as CT scans for health and electric vehicles for environmental protection. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of how science affects the ecosystem could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion restates the position effectively. Overall, the response is well-focused on the topic, though it would benefit from more nuanced analysis to move beyond general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary justification', 'Owing to this', 'Another significant factor', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'these all findings' which is slightly awkward. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'eco-friendly', 'sustainable energy', and 'zero-emission'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'a tested and well-resulted CT scan machines' and 'make continuous science experiments'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'science and the technology has become' (subject-verb agreement), 'causes to protect' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'affect on the eco-system' (unnecessary preposition). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that distract from the flow. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and verb complements.
