Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is ongoing debate regardinng whether the main purpose of science is to better the live's of people. I completely agree with this notion because of automation and improving living standard.
On the one hand, the primary reason why I support this view is that science has innovated technologies, that can automate the tasks. This is because it provides people with new tools and methods to perfom tasks and solve problems. For instance , business can use new technology to develop new products. Therefore, science can support ecnomic and technological progress. Moreover, it make communication faster and easier. This mean, people can use modern communication tools to exchange messages and information almost instantly. As a result, bisnesses and organisations can communicate more efficiently.
On the other hand, another compelling argument is that science can improve people's standard of living. This mean science can create better employment opportunities and increase people's income. Additionally, it improves overall quality of life, by providing better access to essential services as well opportunites. As a result, public can enjoy safer, healthier and more comfortable lives. For example, innovating robots or healthcare tools can make people's daily lives easier and more convenient. Therefore, science can contribute to people's overall well-being.
In conclusion, I strongly belive that science aim to facilitate public's lives. This is because everything is being automated as well quality of life is improved. Also because of easy access citizens can an learn more quickly and make better-informed decisions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention automation and living standards, the arguments remain quite general. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the task achievement score as the ideas are not fully extended. To improve, ensure you provide more specific, concrete examples rather than repeating the same points about 'automation' and 'better lives' in different ways. The conclusion introduces new ideas (learning more quickly) that were not previously discussed in the body paragraphs, which should be avoided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'This mean' is used repeatedly as a transition, which is grammatically incorrect and repetitive). To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'better the live's of people' and 'improve people's standard of living'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'regardinng', 'perfom', 'ecnomic', 'bisnesses', and 'belive'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of control over spelling. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and ensure you proofread your work for basic spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science aim', 'it make communication'), incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'live's'), and missing articles (e.g., 'public can enjoy'). These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to vary your sentence structures with more complex clauses used accurately.
