Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, as science plays an essential role in everyone's life, so people argue on what science should mainly focus on. Nevertheless, science can help mankind in many ways, it can improve human's living but it also protect nature and nurture environment. Thus, I partially agree with the notion as there are many other vital roles that science should play.
To start with, it is very essential ambition of science to improve lives of people, as in recent decades science had made our life much easier than previous centuries, but there are still many people which face several problems related to life as health problems and other ordinary problems in those scenarios science must focus on human beings life. For instance, in many European countries like Switzerland scientists are inventing new vaccinations finding new methods to overcome ordinary problems.
However, there are many other key areas where science should work equally as on our environment, nature and wildlife. These days climate change has become a major threat for humans and other living organisms, so science should focus on finding new ways and resources to solve the problems related to nature and ecosystem. For instance, In many parts of Africa scientist are working hard to improve and make methodology for conserving wild animals and environment.
To conclude, as science plays a crucial role in human kind, environment, nature and ecosystem, there a vast number of important areas where science should focus. It is very important for science to improve individuals live like healthcare and many more, however, it is also necessary to protect nature and other creatures so science should pay attention to these topics along with improving people's lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position of partial agreement. You have identified two main areas: improving human lives and environmental protection. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the mention of Switzerland and Africa is relevant but lacks specific detail or depth to fully support your argument. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'However', and 'To conclude' to transition between ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some of the linking is a bit mechanical. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the phrase 'in those scenarios science must focus on human beings life', where the reference to the previous sentence is somewhat loose. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the flow of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'notion', 'ambition', 'methodology', and 'ecosystem'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or phrasing, such as 'improve human's living' (should be 'improve human lives') and 'ordinary problems'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the environment', 'the nature') and pluralization ('human's living' vs 'human lives'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'there are still many people which face several problems'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as refining complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
