Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 194 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt and take a position, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about agriculture is vague, and the mention of 'outer space' lacks a clear connection to the prompt's focus on improving human lives. To improve, you must expand your supporting arguments with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Additionally', the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear, such as the abrupt shift when discussing agriculture. The referencing is occasionally confusing, and the concluding paragraph is very brief, failing to effectively summarize the main points. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on simple, repetitive terms like 'good role' and 'important role'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'increase of science' (should be 'advancement of science') and 'problomatic topic' (should be 'problematic issue'). To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and precise collocations that demonstrate a wider range of expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'individual gain achieve their goals' (subject-verb agreement), 'the with help of science' (word order), and 'many farmers facing such problems' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
