Student answer (Band 6.0)

The primary goal of science should be to make human lives better. To a large extent i agree with the statement and i will discuss the viewpoints in the following paragraphs.

To commence with the benefits of scientific research. First and the foremost reason is that to make individuals's life convenient. To explain, with help of internet it become easy to talk with their love's one because today there are many social media platforms are available such as Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp through which a person can do chat, video call etcectra. Moreover, inventions made in transports like cars, motorbikes and planes make people life better because a person can covered lot of distance with these mode of tranports within few hours. For example, a news article was published in the USA, which showed that before 21th century people used to travel by walking and horses which took some days or weeks to travel long distance.

On the other hand, invention created by scientists also make people body lasy and useless. Before people preferred to do any work by themself but nowadays everyone is depend on tools and technology to complete their work fast such as in farming. Before individuals cultivate the land by hands or bulls which needs lot of men power but today tractor make it very easy and people just have to drive the tractor no body power need to cultivate the land.

Overall, no doubt, technology has some negative points but inventions made by scientists make human live's better and convenient to meet daily problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like social media and transportation, the discussion on the negative impacts of science is less developed and lacks depth. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph explores the implications of your points more thoroughly rather than just listing examples. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. Aim to provide a more nuanced exploration of the 'extent' to which you agree, perhaps by discussing the balance between scientific progress and human well-being in greater detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'Before people preferred to do any work by themself', where the connection to the previous paragraph could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'make', 'do', and 'good'. There are also several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'love's one' (loved ones), 'men power' (manpower), and 'people body lasy' (people's bodies lazy). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'technological advancement', 'societal impact', or 'automation'. Additionally, pay closer attention to word forms and pluralization to avoid distracting errors that occasionally impede the clarity of your message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('there are many social media platforms are available'), incorrect pluralization ('individuals's life'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with apostrophes. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding verb tenses and possessive forms, and try to construct more complex sentences with greater control.
