Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 209 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. For instance, the point about science in primary schools is not clearly linked to the prompt's focus on the 'aim' of science. Furthermore, the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the conclusion incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure the essay is of the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However', their usage is sometimes mechanical or misused. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak, and the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall flow. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to your central argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'different kinds of science fields' and 'worked greatly'. There are also issues with word forms and collocations, such as 'exacerbate our planet condition' (should be 'exacerbate the condition of our planet') and 'people health' (should be 'people's health'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to word forms and pluralisation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('scientific experiments creates', 'Authorities provides') and incorrect verb tenses ('when they grown up'). There is a limited range of complex sentence structures, and the ones attempted often contain errors. The incomplete final sentence also demonstrates a lack of control over sentence structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that you proofread your work to correct simple errors in tense and pluralisation.
