Student answer (Band 5.5)
the current generation totally used in science everyone has work with helping the science and science is helps to people's lives easily so i agree with the mentioned statement to science should to be an improve people's lives.
The first most important reason is science is helping to people's work easier rather than other just for the example with the helping science people understand the science's law how to work science and technology now the current generation using the science they made a lot of type of gazette like an AI, mobile phone some other electric equipment so the using of the gazette people work smart and work with the smart work instead of hard work. so that is the one of the most important factors.
The Second positive factors are the improve the science and techngy improve the development omen discoveries are made simply to increase our understanding of the natural world. Research in areas such as astronomy, physics and genetics may appear to have limited practical value initially, but such research can eventually lead to unexpected technological or medical breakthroughs. Therefore, scientists should also have the freedom to investigate fundamental questions without being required to demonstrate an immediate social benefit
In conclusion, I strongly agree that improving human lives should be a central aim of science because scientific progress can improve health, safety, communication and the environment. Nevertheless, basic scientific research should also be supported because discoveries that seem purely theoretical today may become extremely valuable to society in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The first body paragraph is repetitive and lacks clarity, particularly in the explanation of 'gazette' (likely meaning gadgets). The second body paragraph is much stronger, providing a nuanced argument about the value of fundamental research. While the conclusion attempts to balance the two sides, the overall development is uneven. The essay would benefit from more specific, real-world examples to support the claims made in the first paragraph, as the current arguments remain somewhat superficial and rely on vague generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'The first most important reason is...' and 'The Second positive factors are...' are somewhat repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the shift from discussing 'gazettes' to the conclusion of the first paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow of ideas within the first paragraph is hindered by awkward phrasing, which disrupts the logical progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and occasionally imprecise. The word 'gazette' is used incorrectly to mean 'gadgets' or 'devices', which causes confusion. Phrases like 'totally used in science' and 'helping the science' are unnatural and indicate a lack of control over collocations. While there is an attempt to use more academic vocabulary in the second paragraph (e.g., 'fundamental questions', 'theoretical', 'breakthroughs'), these are often overshadowed by basic errors in word choice elsewhere. To improve, you should focus on learning word families and common collocations in scientific contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science is helps', 'science should to be an improve') and article usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and missing commas that make the text difficult to parse. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement errors.
