Student answer (Band 5.5)

Science plays an very important role in people's lives over the years. Some people think science should focus on discovering universe while other argue that main aim of science is to improve human life. However, I strongly agree with the notion because without impoving people lives science will not exist in coming years.

In ancient times, people lived in stones and spent most of their time in agriculture. After scientific inovations, human beings overall life improved over the years. Science also creates a lot of jobs that also help humans to improve their lives. Science also fuel many fields to grow faster like communication, transfortation etc. Many people talk with each other over the thousands kilometers within seconds and due to vehicle innovation, alot of weight transport from one place to another. So, all scientific innovations and research in past times made main aim to improve people life rather than else.

In future, we will see the rise of AI, that is another scientific field. The mian aim of this science field is to make machines think like human being and help people in their work. For instance, Software engineers use coding bots to write code and spent most of their time in researching and building scalable software architectures, in contrast, in past they spended most of their time wrting code after AI their work and life become easy.

In conclusion, Science always have main aim to improve people life if it is not, then people are not take any interest in science and due to this investments in science and scientific innovation will decrease, moreover; science will be vanished in future. So, the most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of AI and historical technological advancements. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that science would 'vanish' if it did not focus on improving lives is a strong claim that lacks sufficient logical support or nuance. While the main points are clear, the essay would benefit from more detailed examples and a deeper exploration of the counter-argument regarding pure scientific discovery to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from historical context to future implications. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'in contrast, in past they spended most of their time wrting code after AI their work and life become easy.' The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'inovations', 'transfortation', 'mian', and 'spended'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'important', 'help', and 'improve'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater precision and flair.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'people lived in stones', 'alot of weight transport', and 'if it is not, then people are not take any interest'. Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are areas that require significant attention. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from achieving a higher score.
