IELTS Writing Task 2 question
The most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answers and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Science really aims to improve the people lives and takes as a most precious task to work on.
To be honest I absolutely agree with this statement. An example in past couple years science really saved so many people lives from COVID-19. The devastating situation we were dealing, and the government shows how the population would be saved by technology. The reason I believe is Scientist who exhausted working all day long and the technology helps them to get the vaccine by research worldwide and robotic treatments were done to save so many people. They did without thinking of their own lives, which is literally were on stake. Whereas all people staying inside with all protection and chill life by enjoying home life by using technology.
The other example is one of my friends experienced the health problems in COVID-19, he really had a tough time dealing with, but thanks to the doctor who performed the surgery from other country with the help of technological machines who operated very smoothly and precisely.
I truly believe that by the growing time technology will develop so much, compares to this current generation. It will help people in communicating, researching with this AI, as well as gaining knowledge about the surroundings which is good and bad. It will help us to get updated all the time. Rather than focusing on the manual work in hospitals technology will help the doctors to work smoothly by showing the computerized results of patient and keep the patient data records up to date. This really make the work easy and decrease the burden off from their shoulders.
As a conclusion I would say all of us will be having a very healthy and good life and by the time we can blindly rely on the science technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of science improving lives. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the example of COVID-19 is relevant, the explanation of how science works is simplistic and repetitive. The second example regarding remote surgery is a good point, but it lacks depth. The conclusion is a bit simplistic, relying on a generalization about 'blindly' relying on science. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments that consider the complexity of scientific progress rather than focusing solely on medical technology.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the COVID-19 example and the remote surgery example is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic (e.g., 'The other example is', 'As a conclusion'). There is also some confusion in referencing, such as in the sentence 'The devastating situation we were dealing, and the government shows how the population would be saved by technology,' where the connection between the government and the technology is unclear. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on general terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'easy'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'chill life', 'exhausted working', and 'literally were on stake'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to scientific advancement and societal impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'Science really aims to improve the people lives' (missing possessive/article usage), 'The reason I believe is Scientist who exhausted' (subject-verb agreement and word form issues), and 'by the growing time technology will develop so much, compares to this current generation' (incorrect preposition and verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
