Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing two main supporting arguments: medical advancements and technological development. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example regarding 'America' and cancer research is vague and lacks specific detail. The second paragraph focuses heavily on digital devices being 'attractive' to consumers, which only partially links to the core idea of 'improving lives.' To reach a higher band, you should focus on how science solves fundamental human problems rather than just consumer trends. The conclusion effectively restates the position, but the overall depth of argumentation remains limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Another important reason,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'This means that in medical field scientific advancement helps.' Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'digital devices' and 'modern,' and there are several spelling errors like 'innvoations,' 'sceintific,' and 'innvoate.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday words. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to scientific progress and societal impact, while ensuring greater accuracy in spelling and word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in medical field'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'science make technology'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'people are fascinating by digital devices'). While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered fluent. Focusing on basic grammar rules, such as article usage and verb tense consistency, would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
