Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide examples, such as the mention of learning about the immune system, the connection to the broader argument is sometimes tenuous or lacks logical depth. The prompt asks for the extent of your agreement, and while you state you 'totally agree,' the supporting arguments are somewhat repetitive and rely on personal anecdotes that are not always clearly linked to the scientific aim of improving lives. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-explained reason that directly supports your thesis statement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'the main reason is that' are used repeatedly, which makes the flow feel repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical progression of your argument. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between learning about the immune system and the conclusion about cancer is not fully articulated. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help your ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'good,' 'things,' and 'help.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'constrate on their health' (likely meaning 'concentrate') and 'influenced to their offsprings' (which is grammatically and lexically incorrect). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for the context of a formal essay. Expanding your range of synonyms will also prevent the repetitive feel of the current text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('science it that it should be improve'), incorrect verb forms ('I started ate fresh'), and awkward sentence structures ('the science can also give opportunity to us for helps to others'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors in punctuation and syntax. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses will also significantly improve your score.
