Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing relevant arguments regarding healthcare and automation. The ideas are generally developed, though some points, such as the mention of 'volubility' and 'ancient area', are slightly unclear or imprecise. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the development of ideas could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, maintaining a consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In the other words'. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. For example, 'volubility' is used incorrectly in context, and 'labour work loud' is unclear. There are also spelling errors like 'departement' and 'relex'. While the student attempts to use more academic vocabulary, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of words limit the score. A wider range of precise, topic-specific vocabulary would improve the effectiveness of the arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the MRI images technique'), subject-verb agreement ('most of scientist are'), and word forms ('human's body' instead of 'the human body'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar structures occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is necessary.
