Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 146 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the supporting arguments regarding transport and medicine are underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or specific examples to fully explore the prompt. The conclusion is also very brief. To improve, you must expand your body paragraphs by providing more depth, analysis, and concrete illustrations to ensure the topic is fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Another argument is' and 'In conclusion', but they are somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'The improvement of transport system people could be easily access their destination', which lacks a clear grammatical connection. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-connected supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'improvement of science' and 'people's lives'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'medical invention' instead of 'medical advancements' or 'medical breakthroughs'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the English language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'The improvement of transport system people could be easily access their destination' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. There are also issues with article usage and verb forms, such as 'transport breaks the barrier between to places' (should be 'two'). To improve, focus on sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for basic errors in prepositions and articles.
