Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. While the main ideas—online shopping, remote work, and online education—are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive in their focus on 'convenience' and 'ease.' The development is adequate, but the examples provided (e.g., the 90% statistic for US shopping or the 5000 students in Australia) feel slightly generic or lack sufficient depth to fully explore the 'extent' of the argument. To reach a higher band, you should consider counter-arguments or discuss the potential negative impacts of science to provide a more balanced and nuanced perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'It is quite evident,' 'Secondly,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the sentence 'it will resulst in the job market' is vague and lacks a clear connection to the preceding argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'economy,' 'online platforms,' and 'skilled workers.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'making life more easier' (a double comparative error) and 'contributing to that cause.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement ('science have already improved,' 'online work also have increased') and punctuation ('univeristy' s'). There are also spelling errors like 'curent' and 'resulst.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical rules and ensuring consistent verb forms will significantly improve your writing.
