Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the statement. The ideas regarding education, healthcare, and transportation are relevant and provide a logical framework for the argument. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion to 'provide the practical videos' is a specific example, but the overall argument lacks depth and critical analysis of the potential downsides or complexities of scientific focus. The response is consistent in its position, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct point. The use of linking words like 'firstly', 'secondly', 'thirdly', and 'to sum up' provides a basic structure. However, the cohesion is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the second and third body paragraphs, where the antecedent (science/technology) is not perfectly aligned. The progression of ideas is logical, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a frequent, awkward repetition of the phrase 'the technology of science', which is not a standard collocation. Other phrasing, such as 'main important goal' and 'provide the technical instrument', is slightly unnatural. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, the student should focus on using more varied synonyms and more natural collocations related to scientific advancement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, such as 'I'm totally agree' (should be 'I totally agree'), 'science play' (subject-verb agreement), and 'can solved' (modal verb error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization or ending in run-on structures. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing. A greater focus on basic subject-verb agreement and verb forms is needed.
