Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on healthcare and technology as evidence for the benefits of science. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of space science is brief and lacks a clear connection to the prompt's core argument about improving daily lives. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples or explore the potential counter-arguments to show a deeper understanding of the topic. The conclusion is clear but could be more reflective of the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'all the researches and experiments have done', which disrupts the logical progression. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'well-being', 'life expectancy', and 'diagnose'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'living structure of the globe' and 'in every manners'. Some collocations are also imprecise, such as 'science has got great achievements'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated synonyms would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('scientist have made', 'life expectancy... increase') and article usage ('in field of healthcare'). There are also some punctuation and spelling issues, such as the double 'of of' in the opening sentence. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex structures will be beneficial.
