Student answer (Band 5.5)

It’s often argued that the most significant aim of science and scientists to work and discover new things could help people and improve their lives and develop the society .I am strongly agree about this for several reasons

One of the main reasons for that every problem could be solved by science and knowledge for this scientist keep studying and working in order to find the suitable solution for the problem for instance any health problem to be solved need the right treatment plan and maybe new medicines this what scientists trying to do ,moreover scientists trying to encourage people to take the vaccines to avoid any serious diseases .Nowadays medical technology help us in early diagnosis to people who suffered from severe diseases without knowing as a result of this doctors trying to solve problem simply

Another reason for this that science and scientists making every day from our live become easier and more safe because science is not just one field that focuses in health .it can focus in roads and transportation to let people move easily and have much more safe environment in addition technology is part of science that facility our lives to communicate easily with each others .furthermore to be improve people live you have to focus on what they eat and breath .in terms of food science pay attention to agriculture field to grow right heathy crops and breath ,scientists start to encourage people to use renewable energy and plant more trees

To reacapilate, science make a significant difference in our lives and facilate things could be harder to do before and all this results of learning, studying and working of scientists

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of science improving lives. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention health, transportation, and agriculture, the explanations are repetitive and lack depth. For example, the point about 'roads and transportation' is mentioned but not fully explored with a concrete example. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-developed examples rather than listing several general areas. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Another reason for this that' and 'to reacapilate' (a misspelling of recapitulate) are used to signal transitions, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'all this results of learning', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'help', and 'things'. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'facility our lives' (should be 'facilitate') and 'breath' (should be 'breathe'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'reacapilate', 'heathy') limit the score. Expanding your range to include more academic collocations would significantly improve your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('scientists trying to do'), missing articles ('in agriculture field'), and incorrect verb forms ('to be improve people live'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
