Student answer (Band 5.5)
The most important goal of science should be to improve people's life. I fully agree with this statement because new invantion makes people life more easy. In addition, people not require to do hard work with uses of new technologies.
Firstly, people can do work very easy with new technologies. Because new technology train with many functions, which can do all possible work for people. As a result, people not require to do hardwork in their life. Sometimes, people feel stress in their work because they have same work for many hours. But technologies have not feeling they can do work for long hours. For example, bottles making process is a very stressful process, because people need to do same steps for many hours during making of bottles. If people use bottle making machine, machine can create lots of bottles at a time without any problem. In addition, people do not require to work hard.
Secondly, people's time can save with technologies. Because machines have more speed than people in the work. It can create lots of work at a time with less mistake than people do. Machines are created with well functioned and software so, it is not require to tell again, when do same work. For example, In clothing process, people take more time. Because their hands can not do all work at a time like, adding soap on clothes, cloths wash with water. But washing machine can do all work at a time.
In conclusion, scientist can improve people life with invention of new technologies. So, main goal of science should be improve people's living standard rather than focus on other things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that science should primarily aim to improve people's lives through labor-saving technologies. The response contains relevant ideas, such as reducing workplace stress and saving time, supported by examples like bottle-making and clothing-washing processes. However, these ideas are somewhat limited and tend to be repetitive, reflecting Band 6 characteristics. The arguments are not fully extended into broader societal implications, and the supporting examples are somewhat simplistic. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed, and a clear overarching position is maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical. The student relies heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'In addition,' and some linking is unnatural or grammatically awkward, as seen in 'Because new technology train with many functions.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression between sentences within paragraphs can be disjointed, which aligns well with the descriptors for Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about technology and labor. However, the range is limited, with noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'invantion' (invention), 'life' instead of 'lives', and awkward collocations like 'clothing process' instead of 'textile manufacturing' or 'the process of making clothes'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'technologies' and 'standard', inaccuracies are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('technologies have not feeling', 'it is not require'), incorrect passive voice usage ('new technology train with', 'people's time can save'), and missing articles. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, although the general meaning remains partially decipherable. This overall level of control matches the Band 5.0 criteria.
