Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, there is a growing discussion about the uttermost aim of science should be improvement of people life. Personally, I completely agree that the most important responsibility of science is to improve people's way of life because of funding from goverment and creativity idea.
The principal reason for my view is because scientists are funded by the government to develop and improve people's lives. This means majority of the scientific research are funded by the governments because the federal authorities want them to make the world a better for humans. Although there are some non govermental organizations that also fund their activities, majority of their work are guided and organized by the governement. As a result, these research are beneficial to all fields of life such as agriculture, medicine, and engineering field. For instance, scientists are responsible for the detection and control of some pest that affect crops and they also study and find cure to some virus and bacteria that can endanger human lives. Therefore, governments are sponsoring these organisation so that they can make life better for everyone.
Another reason why i hold this position is because this organisation is responsible for the invention of machines that make human's everyday task to be easier. In other words, they use their intellectual capacity to build some machine that ranges from complex to simple equipment in order to add relevant value to people's work. For example, scientists are responsible for the construction of tractors that makes planting faster and also they invented simple tools that are used at home such as blender, iron, fan e.t.c. Therefore, the existence of these bodies is to lessen human effort and make their daily job effortlessly.
In conclusion, the primary driver for to support the motion that the essential purpose of scientists is too make human life and work easier for everyone because they recieve revenue from government and they also use their initiative to create machines that make life bearable for people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing that the primary aim of science should be to improve people's lives. The main ideas are supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as government funding in agriculture and medicine, and the invention of practical machinery like tractors and household appliances. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise and some supporting arguments feel slightly repetitive. For instance, the discussion around government funding spans the entirety of the second paragraph without fully exploring alternative perspectives or deepening the core argument. While the task is adequately addressed, the development of ideas remains at a Band 6.0 level due to these limitations in depth and scope.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear overall structure with an introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'The principal reason', 'Although', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the concluding sentence is overly convoluted and grammatically tangled, which disrupts the flow of the text. Furthermore, transitions between sentences can feel abrupt, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs occasionally lacks seamless connectivity, keeping the coherence at a solid Band 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'intellectual capacity', 'detection and control', and 'essential purpose'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors that recur throughout the text, including 'goverment' instead of 'government', 'govermental', 'governement', 'uttermost', 'recieve', and 'too make'. Collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'creativity idea' instead of 'creative ideas'. While communication is not impeded and the vocabulary is minimally sufficient, these lexical inaccuracies prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score, aligning closely with Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'scientists are responsible for the detection and control of some pest that affect crops'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'there is a growing discussion about the uttermost aim of science should be', 'majority of the scientific research are', and 'make human's everyday task to be easier'. Punctuation errors are also present, such as missing spaces after commas and redundant abbreviations like 'e.t.c.'. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear, placing the grammatical performance at Band 5.5.
